CHALLENGES and NEEDS
PSA leaders are committed to providing residents with the highest quality sports programs possible. To continue in this tradition, growth statistics must be considered along with the organization's current challenges and needs.
- CHALLENGE: A lack of "green" space creates scheduling problems for volunteer coaches, and limits the number of practices PSA teams and other organizations can offer players. The school's plans to eventually expand may further decrease the amount of space available.
- NEED: More space to accommodate games and practices for more than 70 teams.
- CHALLENGE: Unsafe practice conditions. Congestion requires multiple teams to practice on the same field simultaneously and the shortage of green space causes some soccer teams to use "fields" not properly equipped for the sport, such as overflow parking areas at the fair grounds.
- NEED: More fields to accommodate all the necessary teams and the specific needs of each sport.
- CHALLENGE:: Lost economic development opportunities. A lack of adequate facilities hinders PSA's ability to expand, attract and host tournaments, which have a considerable economic impact on the City of Holdrege.
- NEED: A complex that will support and attract more tournaments with a greater number of teams. The greater number of teams, the greater impact on local hotels, restaurants and other businesses.
